Health facilities in Udayapur reeling under shortage of medicines due to blockade

Gaighat, Nov 19: Many health facilities in Udayapur district are reeling under shortage of medicines due to the unofficial blockade of supplies by India.
Health workers said that import of medicines has been affected due to the blockade, thus causing shortage of medicines.
The health institutions that are facing the shortage include the District Hospital and health posts at Hardeni, Lekhani, Sorung Chhabise, Limpatar, Balamta, Thanagaun, Basbote, Talimchha, Aaptar, Jante and Pokhare among others.
Dr Chuman Lal Das, chief of the District Hospital, said that they are forced to return patients empty handed as the store at the hospital has depleted.
Assistant health worker Bhupendra Raj Bhattarai at the health post at Lekhani said that the health facility lacks medicines like cetamol and Jeevan Jal (Oral Rehydration Salts).
Bhashkar Raut of Thanagaun-5, who had his hand cut during Dashain, said that he had to go to Siraha for the treatment in lack of medicines at local health facilities. RSS
