Voices meant for weakening nationality not acceptable: Minister Rai

Kathmandu, Nov 18: Minister for Information and Communications Technology, Sherdhan Rai, has said that it would not be acceptable to the people if voices inviting disintegration and weakening the nationality are raised after attacking on the main spirit of the new constitution.
At a programme organised by the Press Chautari Nepal here today to welcome and congratulate him, Minister Rai stressed the need of addressing some serious issues through the constitutional process.
He said, “There is a constitutional way to address some issues left out in the constitution. But the voice raised to reject the constitution, tearing it and with personal interest would not contribute to safeguarding the national integration.”
Minister Rai, also the Spokesperson of the government, said that we should involve in the main course on how to take the country ahead on an institutionalized system as the country has already taken the path of development, peace, prosperity, accountability, transparency and democracy.
He further said that the government was taking initiatives to resolve all problems through talks and attention of the World has been drawn towards unannounced border blockade and inhuman behaviour of India.
The Communications Minister also expressed belief that the disruption of supply of petroleum products would be ended soon.
Stating that the government would carry out work after bringing the Common Minimum Programme soon, he said he has been studying and consulting regarding making the media sector disciplined, transparent and developed.
Minister Rai said a conclusion would be drawn soon by holding discussion with concerned bodies regarding formation of the Mass Communication Foundation, and implementation of the recommendation on the remuneration of the Working Journalists, saying a review should be carried out on media policy and structure after promulgation of the new constitution.
Similarly, press advisor of the Prime Minister, Pramod Dahal, assured his support for the development of communication sector of the country.
Deputy Chief of the CPN (UML) Publicity Department, Surya Thapa, and Press Chautari Chairman Rajendra Aryal, also expressed their views. RSS
